Finally the first issue of Mock Magazine is out on the net!
And it’s actually double good news! Have a peek inside here and get to see and to read some of my work!

Mock Mag #1 is out

mock mag #1 cover

There’s two articles about trends in womenswear and menswear by me illustrated by the much talented Jordan Sterling.

And… there’s a very special editorial shot by Thomas Sing realized within a wonderful collaboration where I was involved both in the creative direction and the styling! It was truly a deal of coordination needed, especially in the post-production, to get to this result, but I’d really like to thank everyone involved for their amazing contribution!

Inspirations:
For this project we decided to mix media, combining studio photographs with black&white illustration. We wanted to create a not so far future between science-fiction and noir comics.
Inspirations for the city were certainly cult movies like Brazil, Blade Runner and the 5th Element and we had to think of Frank Miller and Roy Liechtenstein a lot!
The background was illustrated mixing hand-drawing, 3D and 2D graphics.

Our heroine should stay above the trend, we wanted her to be zen, futuristic and classy at once. Therefore the choice of the colours black, white and red. She should be determined like Star Wars’ Princess Leya, but also pure like the Childlike Empress in the Neverending Story.

The billboards in the city should reflect a technologic culture with a strictly coded style, so we opted for static poses and geometrical, stiff clothing. Suburbia should represent a contrast to this well-organized and mannered world. We chose metal and fur as the two main styling themes for the underground first to convey an aggressive attitude, either sharp or wild, but also to remind of recyclable materials in a world where resources are limited. (All fur used is recycled fur!)

For the beauty part, we wanted to emphasize hair as a distinguishing feature, using extensions or hats to blow up head proportions. (For there is a lot of brain work about fashion.)

We didn’t want to make a steady statement about the future of fashion. That’s why in the end we left the question open to anyone’s creativity. We hope the viewers will enjoy our little story and be inspired to an answer of their own.

We spend the last 2 weeks on a shooting marathon between jobs and free works. It seems Thomas and me can’t keep it low-profile any more.
And I almost feel like I am getting more and more in touch with a camera those days. I started documenting the behind the scenes both in pictures and video, for the last days went so fast and I wanted to keep track of the great (and busy) time.
Thomas posted the pics I made on the last shooting on his blog and I must admit I am quite happy with them and they’re a nice souvenir. Now I’ll have to make some work on the video material and really hope I can come up with some funny stuff to post here asap.

Writing about Style

I started writing for Guitar Dreams, a young German publication which will surely appeal to those who have some technical knowledge and a big heart for guitars and rock gear in general. Though my inner beat is much like that of a rocker, I must admit I lack any talent for instruments and my singing is just for showers. But whatever… I know something about style, so there you go!
My first article was a portrait of Kat von D from the style point of view. If you speak German and are now curious, get your copy!

A fashion visionary passed away on February 10th, 2010.
Alexander McQueen was one of the reason I love fashion. His work was inspiration and will never be forgotten.
I hope he found peace after all. He will be forever highly missed.

Floating Architecture

So what would you when you get a phone call telling you could have a 2 hours window for shooting in a giant aquarium? Most would probably kindly recline the offer because of lack of time or ideas… Well, fortunately Thomas Sing and I had some time spare and opened our wardrobes looking for some vintage vibe. We realized we had some Ferré pieces from back then and could do a little hommage to Gianfranco letting his strict design float.
Here is what we came up with. The set is now showcased on thefashionbirdcage.com!

Straight Pieces

This was a piece of free work for Thomas’ port. He came up with the idea of using straight jackets as a piece of couture.
I completed the styling with some wearable, casual pieces to underline the idea of straightness and highlight the contrast between pieces we all know and love and the unconvetional choice of a straight jacket. I opted then for a stronger make-up to go with that.

Serial – MC Mag no. 22

These pictures are probably the craziest from our first shooting with Stephen Delattre. But you know sometimes it’s just about some fun with creepy stuff.
Being not only a talented dancer but a good drama actor for sure, Stephen suited the maniac role perfectly!
I never take for granted someone can share my humor, but there are still people who do. So thanks guys for the good time and great work, which has recently been featured on MC Mag #22! (Subscribe for it!!!)

Laid & Wasted

“It’s all about getting laid and wasted” was the job title Thomas gave to this project at the beginning of the conceptional work and somehow it sticked pretty well. Intended for a image shooting for his university research programme about labels and pop culture, the pictures were so good that we couldn’t chose one out of the many. We wanted a decadent yet youthful atmosphere and abused of the classic glamour and excess themes. It took me hours to turn the room into this set, highlightning as much detail as possible. Actually chaos is the most difficult thing to inscene.
Maria was the perfect model for this project and she really put the life into these pictures, which were eventually reviewed at thefashionbirdcage.com!

Local Whisper Magazine

Thomas shot the Christmas/New Year themed cover for Local Whisper Magazine #2, a local mag featuring events in the region.
I was here in charge of make-up, hair, styling, retouch and (very important!) the wind in the studio!
